Ikim chairman Muhammad Nur Manuty passes away at 76

His special officer confirmed the news in a statement on social media

KUALA LUMPUR – Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (Ikim) chairman Datuk Dr Muhammad Nur Manuty has passed away today at the age of 76.  

His special officer, Firhan Rosli, confirmed the news in a statement on social media, noting that Manuty died around 11.27am at the Sultan Idris Shah Hospital in Serdang. 

“We are deeply saddened to share the news of the passing of our mentor, Datuk Dr Muhammad Nur Manuty.  

“His loss is significant for both Muslims and the nation, particularly in the areas of preaching, scholarship, and Islamic thought,” he was quoted in Sinar Harian. 

Firhan urged the public to pray for the deceased, asking for mercy on their soul, forgiveness of their sins, and a place among the righteous and faithful. 

Muhammad Nur took on the role of Ikim chairman on May 8, 2023. 

He was greatly respected among Islamic scholars due to his substantial contributions to enhancing Islamic thought in the country, which is why he was so well-regarded. –June 26, 2025
