KUALA LUMPUR – The police have arrested a 36-year-old female security guard and a 61-year-old male businessman in relation to a rape case involving a minor.
The arrests were carried out by the Ampang Jaya Criminal Investigation Department on Friday.
According to Ampang District Police Chief ACP Mohd Azam Ismail, the 13-year-old victim left home after discovering a text conversation between her mother and her mother’s boyfriend about a planned meeting at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
“This conversation alarmed the girl, as it suggested the boyfriend’s intention to sexually assault her, a plan that her mother allegedly supported,” Azam said in a statement.
He said that further investigations revealed that the victim had been raped by her mother’s boyfriend in 2024, an incident witnessed by her mother.
Upon their arrest, both suspects were tested for drugs, and the results came back negative.
Background checks showed that neither suspect had any previous criminal history.
The court has issued a remand order for both individuals for a period of seven days, from June 28 to July 4, while investigations continue.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 (1) of the Penal Code, which pertains to rape against a female, carrying potential penalties of up to 20 years in prison and caning. – June 29, 2025
