KUALA LUMPUR – Newly promoted Super League outfit Melaka FC will bolster their squad with five foreign signings ahead of the 2025/2026 season – all of whom are expected to report for duty next week.

None of the five have played in the M-League before, making them “fresh faces” for local fans, particularly Melaka supporters.

Head coach K. Devan confirmed to Scoop that the new recruits hail from Brazil, South Korea, and Nigeria, and are expected to make an impact once integrated into the squad.

The former Selangor and Negeri Sembilan tactician is confident the new signings – along with two loan players from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) – will strengthen the side as it returns to Malaysia’s top flight for the first time since 2022.

“We began pre-season training three weeks ago. The squad comprises 20 local players and five imports from Brazil, Korea, and Nigeria, who will be arriving next week. If our budget allows, we might consider adding one or two more foreign players,” said Devan when contacted.

“For now, we’ve only signed five foreign players, despite being allowed to register up to 15 imports by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) for the 2025-2026 season.

“We’re not a club with a big budget, so while we don’t have any big-name signings, many of our players have Super League experience. The mix of foreign and seasoned local players should give us a decent balance,” he added.

The squad will also include goalkeeper Haziq Aiman and winger Aiman Danish Abdul Azim, both on loan from JDT.

“These young players bring energy and ambition to the team. It’s a good opportunity for them to grow with regular game time, and they’ve been training well with us so far,” Devan said.

Melaka FC secured promotion after winning the Liga A1 Semi-Pro title last season. Following a recent revival and rebranding, the club is now preparing for a return to the Super League.

Looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, Devan remains realistic about the club’s objectives for the season ahead.

“This is our first year in the Super League, so ideally, we want to avoid being stuck at the bottom. Hopefully, we can finish somewhere in mid-table. The main goal is to stabilise ourselves in the league before we think about bigger targets,” he said. – July 9, 2025

KUALA LUMPUR – Newly promoted Super League side Melaka FC will be reinforced by five foreign players, all of whom are expected to join the team next week.

What makes it even more exciting is that none of these players have ever played in the M-League, making them “fresh faces” for local football fans, especially Melaka FC supporters, to look forward to.

This was confirmed by Melaka FC head coach K. Devan to Scoop, who explained that the club’s new imports hail from Brazil, South Korea, and Nigeria.

The former Negeri Sembilan and Selangor tactician is optimistic that the new signings will quickly integrate into the squad and make a strong impression in the upcoming season.

The team will also be boosted by two promising young talents on loan from Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT).

“We began our pre-season training three weeks ago. The squad comprises 20 local players and five imports from Brazil, Korea, and Nigeria, who will be arriving next week. If our budget allows, we might consider adding one or two more foreign players,” said Devan when contacted.

“For now, we’ve only signed five foreign players despite being allowed to register up to 15 imports by the Malaysian Football League (MFL) for the 2025–2026 season.

“We’re not a club with a big budget, so while we don’t have any big-name signings, many of our players have experience in the Super League. The combination of foreign and experienced local players should balance the team’s strength,” he added.

Melaka FC will also count on the services of goalkeeper Haziq Aiman and winger Aiman Danish Abdul Azim, both of whom have joined the team on loan from JDT.

“These young players bring energy and ambition to the team. It’s a good opportunity for them to develop with regular game time, and they’ve been training well with us so far,” said Devan.

Melaka FC earned promotion to the top tier after clinching the Liga A1 Semi-Pro title last season. The club, which was only recently rebranded and revived, is now preparing for its first appearance in the Super League since 2022.

Looking ahead to the upcoming campaign, Devan remained realistic about the team’s ambitions.

“This is our first year in the Super League, so ideally, we want to avoid being stuck at the bottom. Hopefully, we can finish somewhere in mid-table. The main goal is to stabilise ourselves in the league before we think about bigger targets,” he said. – July 9, 2025
