KUALA TERENGGANU – Terengganu weightlifter Siti Noralyaa Mat Marzuki, 25, passed away yesterday evening after a battle with breast cancer.

Siti Noralyaa, who won a bronze medal in the 71-kilogramme category at the 2022 Malaysia Games (Sukma), breathed her last at Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ) around 7.40pm, surrounded by her family.

The late athlete’s father, Mat Marzuki Mat Jusoh, 51, said his eldest daughter had been bedridden and receiving treatment at the hospital since June, after being diagnosed with stage four breast cancer.

“She had been battling the illness since last January but kept it to herself, as she didn’t want to trouble the family,” he said when contacted.

He added that his daughter was laid to rest at around 11am today at the Felda Kampung Belara Muslim Cemetery. – July 13, 2025
