GEORGE TOWN — Penang police have been instructed by the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office to finalise their investigation into a 43-year-old doctor who has been arrested four times over alleged indecent acts, including the molestation of a female patient during a consultation.
Acting state police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said three earlier cases involving the same doctor were reported in the Timur Laut district between February and March this year, while a fourth case was recently lodged in the Barat Daya district.
“The investigation papers for the three Timur Laut cases have been completed and submitted to the DPP’s office,” he told reporters at the state police headquarters today.
“However, we have now been directed to incorporate the latest case into a single investigation paper and complete the overall probe before resubmitting it for further action.”
The most recent case involves allegations that the doctor molested a female patient at a private clinic in Bayan Baru, where he was working as a locum.
Alwi said police will be recording several statements to complete the investigation into the incident, which reportedly took place during a consultation when the doctor allegedly instructed the patient to remove her top before touching both her breasts.
Following earlier arrests related to the Timur Laut cases, the doctor—who was previously stationed at a government hospital—was transferred to a government clinic in the Barat Daya district.
He was detained for the fourth time at the Barat Daya district police headquarters at 8pm on Monday, after being called in to assist with the latest investigation.
He was remanded for three days until July 23 and has since been released on police bail pending further investigation.
Previous reports revealed that the doctor had been arrested in connection with three earlier complaints involving female patients at one government hospital and two private clinics in the Timur Laut area. — July 24, 2025
