KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), in partnership with the Selangor State Education Department (JPN Selangor), has launched the Selangor 2025 “Internet Safety Campaign” (KIS) Carnival at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seksyen 9, Shah Alam, aimed at equipping primary school students with essential digital safety skills.

The event saw the participation of 240 students and 24 teachers from 12 schools in the Shah Alam region, including SK Seksyen 6, SK Seksyen 7, and SK Shah Alam.

The carnival was designed to “empower” students with the knowledge needed to responsibly navigate the online world, fostering a positive digital identity and encouraging responsible online behaviour from an early age.

Among the many activities, students enjoyed a powerful choir performance by SK Seksyen 9, which helped emphasise the importance of community involvement in fostering digital responsibility.

Additionally, the “Pledge Wall” invited students to make a personal commitment to “practice online safety and act as responsible digital citizens.”

The event also included an exhibition by the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), which showcased resources that promote digital literacy and security.

“This carnival is more than just a learning event, it’s about shaping the future of digital safety in Malaysia,” the commission said.

“We want to instil the importance of ethical online practices in the minds of students and ensure they are well-equipped to navigate an increasingly digital world.”

The MCMC also announced plans to extend the Internet Safety Campaign (KIS) to more primary and secondary schools, as well as public higher education institutions (IPTA), with the goal of reaching a wider audience and building a “safe and thriving digital ecosystem” across the country. – July 26, 2025
