KUALA LUMPUR – Police have recorded statements from three individuals – a security guard, a local domestic worker, and a foreign domestic worker – as part of investigations into a break-in at the home of a grandchild of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said no arrests have been made so far.

“No arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama.

It was earlier reported that the house belonging to Mahathir’s grandchild was broken into, resulting in the loss of jewellery worth RM1.8 million, which had been kept in a bedroom.

The losses primarily involved old jewellery believed to be personal items, along with other valuables.

The incident was discovered by the domestic worker at about 3pm last Wednesday, after she noticed the back gate had been cut open and her employer’s room appeared to have been entered by an intruder. – July 27, 2025
