KUALA LUMPUR – A 24-year-old Chinese national woman was arrested after running amok and attacking members of the public with a knife near Metro Point, Kajang, yesterday.

The incident, which occurred at about 11.58am near a traffic light junction by the shopping centre, began when the suspect rammed her vehicle into three motorcycles.

It quickly went viral on social media, with netizens condemning her reckless and violent behaviour.

Speaking to Scoop, Kajang District Police Chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder, which carries a maximum jail term of 20 years.

“With the help of members of the public, the suspect was apprehended along with two knives before being handed over to police.

“Six victims aged between 21 and 60 were injured—two were warded while four received outpatient treatment. Three motorcycles were also damaged.

“Investigations are also underway under Section 279 of the Penal Code for reckless driving and Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said, adding that both carry prison terms and fines if convicted.

At the same time, Naazron also added that the suspect has been remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code, with the motive still under investigation.
