KUALA LUMPUR – Police are investigating the suspected murder of a female college student who was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan at her family home in Subang Jaya, Selangor, on Thursday.

Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Wan Azlan Wan Mamat said the victim, in her 20s, was found by her father at about 11.55am at the house in USJ 2/1.

A post-mortem at Serdang Hospital revealed the cause of death was bleeding around the hyoid bone, with injuries to the muscles and bones consistent with manual strangulation.

“The victim was found alone at home at the time of the incident. She lived there with her sister and cousin. No loss of property was reported,” Wan Azlan said in a statement.

No arrests have been made so far. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Wan Azlan also urged the public not to speculate on the case via social media and appealed for anyone with information to contact the Subang Jaya District Control Centre at 03-7862 7100 or Investigation Officer ASP Zainol Aazizi Abu Bakar at 013-322 7632. — August 17, 2025
