KUALA LUMPUR – The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) has launched a rebranding of four of its schemes under the name Lindung, as part of efforts to modernise and fortify the existing protection framework.
The renamed schemes include Lindung Pekerja under the 1969 Social Security Act (Act 4), Lindung Kerjaya for the 2017 Employment Insurance System Act (Act 800), Lindung Kendiri for the Self-Employed Social Security Scheme (SKSPS), and Lindung Kasih, replacing the Housewives Social Security Scheme (SKSSR).
During the Lindung branding launch gala today, Human Resources Minister, Steven Sim Chee Keong, explained that the rebranding effort is part of a larger initiative to promote Perkeso’s services to the wider community.
“When I was entrusted with the ministry, I had to familiarise myself with Perkeso’s offerings. They presented me with their products, but I thought to myself, ‘How can I remember all these names and acronyms?’ It’s a lot to take in,” Sim said.
He emphasised that a simpler and more recognisable name, such as Lindung, would make it easier for the public and workers to understand and access the protection offered by Perkeso.
“If we are promoting safety and security products, but the names are difficult to pronounce or remember, how can we expect the public and workers to know about them?” he asked.
Sim highlighted that the Lindung rebranding aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding the rights and dignity of workers across Malaysia.
“Our mission is to elevate the status of workers and provide them with a shield of protection, which is why the name Lindung resonates perfectly with our goal,” he added.
In recognition of their efforts to maintain worker welfare, eight employers, including renowned artists and entrepreneurs, were honoured with the Majikan Pesona Lindung award at the event.
Awardees included Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Taruddin, Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor, Datuk Dr. Yusof Haslam, Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri, Christy Ng, as well as Aeril and Wawa.
Perkeso Chairman, Datuk Seri Subahan Kamal, stressed that Lindung is more than just a new name—it represents the organisation’s renewed pledge to protect vulnerable individuals, support the working class, and uphold the dignity of all workers, from manual labourers to professionals.
“Through this rebranding, we aim to ensure that no one is left without support. Every citizen who needs help will be ‘protected’, ‘assisted’, and ’empowered’ for the collective well-being of the nation,” Subahan said. – August 22, 2025
