KUALA LUMPUR – Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad has filed a report with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) after discovering a fake TikTok account impersonating him with artificial intelligence (AI).
In a statement, Saarani said his office began receiving complaints about the fraudulent account on Tuesday afternoon.
The fake profile not only mimicked his name and voice but also spread false information and bogus cash offers, asking the public to contact a specific phone number to make claims.
“I urge the public not to be deceived because the account does not belong to me and all the offers made are also not true.”
All forms of government assistance will be announced through the official social media account of the Menteri Besar and the official government channels,” he said.
Saarani added that the matter has been referred to the authorities, including the MCMC, for further action. He also called on the public to report the account if they come across it on social media. – September 2, 2025
