KUALA LUMPUR – A local woman who attempted to approach the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, during the state-level National Day celebration has been referred to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta (HBUK) in Tanjung Rambutan.
Perak Police Chief Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin said she was sent for further monitoring under the Mental Health Act 2001 (Act 615) after her remand period ended yesterday.
He said investigations into the case have been completed.
“The investigation papers have been referred to the Perak Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office and will be forwarded to the Attorney-General’s Chambers in Putrajaya today for further instructions and a decision.
“Any further developments will be announced in due course,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The woman, who has a history of psychiatric treatment, was detained by security personnel on 31 August after she entered from the side of the stage while the Perak state anthem was being played.
She was apprehended for attempting to approach and rush towards Sultan Nazrin on the main stage.
Initial investigations also revealed that the 41-year-old woman had a past record involving drugs, but her urine test came back negative.
She had been remanded for three days starting last Monday. – September 4, 2025
