KUALA LUMPUR – Former national artistic gymnast Farah Ann Abdul Hadi has been appointed Chef de Mission of the Malaysian contingent to the 3rd Asian Youth Games in Manama, Bahrain, from October 22 to 31.

The Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM), in a statement today, said the appointment was made in collaboration with the National Sports Council (NSC).

“With her international experience and outstanding achievements, Farah Ann is expected to inspire and motivate our youth athletes to excel at the Games,” OCM said.

Farah Ann, 30, is among Malaysia’s most accomplished gymnasts, having won 12 medals at four editions of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, including seven gold, two silver and three bronze.

Her highlight came at the 2019 Philippines SEA Games, where she captured three gold medals in the All-Around, Uneven Bars and Floor Exercise events.

She was named the Coca-Cola OCM Olympian of the Year in 2019 and went on to represent Malaysia at the Commonwealth Games (2010, 2014, 2018) and the Asian Games (2014, 2018).

In 2021, she became only the fourth Malaysian gymnast to qualify for the Olympic Games, competing in Tokyo.

“Farah Ann’s journey in gymnastics has been one of passion, resilience and excellence.

“Her determination and fighting spirit will serve as a beacon of inspiration to the younger generation,” OCM added.

The council expressed confidence that her leadership will motivate Malaysia’s athletes to deliver strong performances at the upcoming Asian Youth Games. — September 19, 2025
