KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysians can now check their eligibility for the RON95 petrol subsidy under the Budi Madani (Budi95) initiative starting 9 a.m. today.
The eligibility status and monthly subsidy balance can be verified via the official portal, www.budimadani.gov.my, by simply entering one’s identity card number.
According to Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, at petrol pumps, users only need to insert their MyKad into the reader to confirm their eligibility.
Payments can then be made in cash, by credit/debit card, or through e-wallets and applications.
After fueling, receipts will display the pump price, the amount subsidised by the government, and the final amount paid by the consumer at RM1.99 per litre.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim previously announced that the price of RON95 petrol will remain at RM1.99 per litre starting September 30, 2025, for all Malaysian citizens regardless of income level.
For non-citizens, the RON95 price will be RM2.60 per litre from the same date.
Under Budi95, Malaysians are entitled to 300 litres of RON95 per month, while e-hailing drivers are exempt from this limit and may apply for higher quotas.
All Malaysians with a valid driving licence are eligible for the RON95 subsidy, covering more than 16 million people.
The government expects savings of between RM2.5 billion and RM4 billion annually from the removal of blanket subsidies, which will be redirected to targeted assistance such as the Rahmah Cash Contribution (STR) and Rahmah Basic Contribution (SARA). – September 25, 2025
