KUALA LUMPUR – Jom Jalan with NPC 2025, a race walking and fun walk event, will return to Padang Merbok here on Nov 29, jointly organised by the National Press Club Malaysia (NPC) and the Federal Territories Athletics Association (FTAA).

The second edition of the event features a 10km competitive race walk and a 5km fun walk. The 10km race will include Men’s Open, Women’s Open, and Boys’ and Girls’ (aged 13–17) categories.

With the decline of race walking events and champions in recent years, organisers hope the initiative will help unearth and nurture future stars. FTAA will also use the event to scout potential athletes for next year’s Malaysia Games in Selangor.

NPC president Datuk Ahirudin Attan said the event’s objectives were not only to promote a healthy lifestyle but also to bring media practitioners and stakeholders together.

“More importantly, this is an event where we want to see media practitioners and stakeholders come together for a good cause.

“While championing a healthy lifestyle, we also want to champion the media industry and those in it,” he said, expressing hope that Jom Jalan will grow into an iconic annual event.

The inaugural edition, held at the same venue last year, drew more than 300 participants from diverse backgrounds.

Organisers are targeting even greater participation this year, with winners of the competitive categories set to receive cash prizes and medals.
