KUALA LUMPUR – A wave of excitement swept through the streets of Klang this morning as Raja Muda Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah, embarked on the highly anticipated royal procession marking the start of his wedding celebrations.
At 8.52am, His Highness arrived at the Sultan Abdul Aziz Royal Gallery, where a grand procession set the stage for his journey towards Istana Alam Shah, leading to a private wedding ceremony scheduled for 10am, local media reported.
Accompanied by his parents, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, Tengku Amir Shah made a striking appearance in a white baju Melayu, ready to journey the 1.2-kilometre stretch to the royal palace in a majestic Rolls-Royce.
The route, lined with royal attendants bearing ceremonial items such as parasols, spears, and wedding trays, was infused with tradition, with the sounds of Selangor’s kompang ensemble filling the air.
Amidst the pomp and splendour, thousands of eager onlookers, many waving the Selangor flag, lined the streets to witness the royal procession.
Security was tight, with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and other enforcement agencies ensuring the smooth flow of the event. Media personnel, too, were on hand from as early as 6.30 am, eagerly awaiting the momentous occasion.
This wedding follows an announcement by the Sultan of Selangor on September 22, confirming that Tengku Amir Shah would wed his bride, Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz, in a ceremony within Istana Alam Shah.
The royal wedding celebrations will continue on October 22 with a grand reception and banquet. – October 2, 2025
