KUALA LUMPUR — French cyclist Joris Delbove sealed overall victory at the 2025 Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL), lifting the crown after eight gruelling stages that ended in the heart of Malaysia’s capital today.

The 25-year-old TotalEnergies rider finished only 17th in the final 180.2-kilometre stage from Tangkak to Kuala Lumpur, but his accumulated time of 27 hours, 17 minutes and 38 seconds was enough to clinch the general classification.

Delbove, who wore the green jersey from the fifth to eighth stages, held off Norway’s Ander Halland Johannessen of Uno-X Mobility by three seconds, while Switzerland’s Tudor Pro Cycling rider took third, seven seconds adrift.

“I will treasure the wonderful memories I’ve made here in Malaysia and at Le Tour de Langkawi,” Delbove told reporters after the finish line at the Petronas Twin Towers, as quoted by Bernama.

“It has truly been an amazing experience — the country’s beauty and scenery are breathtaking, and the racing has been incredibly intense. This victory means a lot to me, and I’m really happy.”

The final stage itself was claimed by Aaron Gate of XDS Astana, who crossed the line in 3:50:05, edging out Tudor’s Aivaras Mikutis on the same time, with Equipo Kern Pharma’s Nil Gimeno seven seconds back in third.

Elsewhere in the jersey competitions, Uno-X Mobility’s Erlend Blikra secured the orange jersey with 63 sprint points, while Team Picnic PostNL’s Patrick Eddy took the polka dot jersey as King of the Mountains.

The white jersey for best Asian rider went to Nicolya Vinoukorov of XDS Astana, who placed 27:17:49 overall.

Team Polti VisitMalta claimed the overall team title in 81:53:46, while Indonesia’s Nusantara BYC emerged as the best Asian team.

Malaysia’s top finisher was Tsen Ren Bao of St George, who placed 34th overall. — October 5, 2025
