KUALA LUMPUR – Police have arrested a 42-year-old man on suspicion of assaulting his 12-year-old daughter, who fled their home in Kepong after allegedly being beaten by him.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus told Scoop that the girl was reported missing on October 5, before being found by a member of the public at a shop in Metro Prima.
“A report was lodged by the individual who found the victim. She was taken to the Kepong police station and later sent to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for examination and treatment,” Fadil said.
The victim told police she had been assaulted by her father, prompting her to run away from home.
Medical checks revealed the girl had bruising beneath her lip, scratches on her back, and complained of head pain.
At around 4.40pm, the father arrived at the Kepong police station to file a report about his daughter’s disappearance. He was arrested and is now under investigation for an offence under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001.
Fadil further revealed that initial investigations suggested the man assaulted his daughter because she had failed to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen.
The suspect, a plumber with no prior criminal record, has been remanded for four days, from October 5 to 8, to assist with the investigation.
The investigation file will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s Office on October 8 for further action. — October 6, 2025
