KOTA KINABALU – Datuk Ellron Angin, deputy president of StarSabah, has confirmed that he, along with four other incumbent assemblymen, have officially joined Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as direct members following the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly earlier today.
Ellron, who represents the Sook constituency, stated that their decision signals full support for GRS leadership under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, Daily Express reported.
Fellow assembly members Datuk Abidin Madingkir (Paginatan), Datuk Annuar Ayub Aman (Liawan), Datuk Flovia Ng (Tulid), and Datuk Robert Tawik (Bingkor) have also aligned themselves with this move.
“Although Robert was unable to attend the press conference due to health reasons, he remains committed to our collective decision to stay with GRS, despite StarSabah’s recent withdrawal from the coalition,” Ellron clarified.
The five assemblymen will contest under the GRS logo in the upcoming 17th State Election. Ellron added that their decision to leave StarSabah followed the party’s leadership pulling out of the coalition last week.
In 2024 alone, Sabah OGSE contractors were awarded RM2 billion worth of contracts, reinforcing the state’s position as an OGSE powerhouse for the future.
The move leaves StarSabah president Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan as the only assemblyman from the party not supporting GRS, following the coalition’s decision to maintain its cooperation with Pakatan Harapan. — October 6, 2025
