EC to convene on key dates for Sabah’s 17th state election

Commission says it is ready to conduct polls following Chief Minister Hajiji Noor’s announcement of the assembly’s dissolution with the governor’s consent

KOTA KINABALU — The Election Commission (EC) will hold a special meeting to discuss important dates for the 17th Sabah Legislative Assembly election.

In a statement, EC said the date of the special meeting will be announced later.

“EC has taken note of the announcement on the dissolution of the 16th Sabah Legislative Assembly today.

“EC is prepared to conduct the election as provided for under Article 21 Clause (4) of the Sabah State Constitution,” the statement said.

Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor today announced the dissolution after receiving the consent of the Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman. — October 6, 2025
