KUALA LUMPUR – The government is stepping up its support for the disabled community with a series of new measures, including financial aid, improved mobility infrastructure, and expanded services for individuals with autism.

Nearly RM1.4 billion will be allocated to assist bedridden chronic PWDs, those unable to work, and recipients of the Disabled Workers’ Allowance.

The government has also established Autism Service Centres (PPA) across Peninsular Malaysia and will expand their operations to Labuan, Sabah, and Sarawak, benefitting around 13,000 autistic individuals and their families.

Meanwhile, Prasarana will provide 100 special mobility vans equipped with wheelchair lifts, capable of carrying up to three wheelchair users at a time.

Additionally, the government plans to increase individual income tax relief for expenses related to screening, early intervention, and continuous rehabilitation for children with disabilities under 18, from RM6,000 to RM10,000. – October 10, 2025
