KUALA LUMPUR — Commuters on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line were left stranded again this evening following yet another service disruption — this time due to what Rapid KL described as a “mechanical disruption on the track component.”
Among those affected was Carmelia Shamini, who travelled down from Penang for her once-a-month weekend university classes. She first found herself stuck at Pasar Seni station before being told to disembark again at Bangsar.
“The previous train broke down, and they asked us to get down. After seven minutes, another train came, but it also didn’t move. This seems to happen almost every time I come down now,” Carmelia told Scoop, visibly frustrated.
She added that the power in one of the trains even went off before returning, only for passengers to be told to alight once more.

Rapid KL issued a statement apologising for the disruption and assured commuters that services would resume as soon as possible.
“Please be informed that the Kelana Jaya LRT service from LRT Kerinchi Station to LRT Bangsar Station is experiencing technical disruptions.
“Several Rapid KL buses have been deployed to support the affected routes, which has temporarily affected bus frequencies in other areas (821 and T791).
“Rapid Bus and Rapid Rail are working to restore services as soon as possible. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused,” the company said.
This marks yet another incident in what regular passengers describe as a recurring problem on the LRT Kelana Jaya Line — one that “definitely needs attention,” as Carmelia put it.
The latest disruption comes as Rapid KL continues Phase 3 of its RM150 million Signalling System Upgrade Project, which is scheduled for completion this month. The ongoing works have caused selected stations to open later than usual on certain weekends.
