KUALA LUMPUR – Petronas, through Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM), has formalised an agreement with Gilang Cendana Sdn Bhd (GCSB), a subsidiary of Putrajaya Holdings Sdn Bhd (PjH), to develop the Petronas Geoscience Technology Centre (PGTC) in Putrajaya.

The agreement, signed on Oct 21, 2025, signifies a strategic collaboration aimed at advancing Malaysia’s geoscience capabilities.

The signing ceremony was officiated by MPM Senior Vice President Datuk Ir. Bacho Pilong and PjH Chief Executive Officer Datuk Sr. Mohd Salem Kailany, who signed on behalf of GCSB. Jabatan Mineral dan Geosains Malaysia (JMG)
also attended as a collaborating partner.

The PGTC will serve as a national hub for geoscience excellence, dedicated to enhancing research, innovation and data management in the field. It will also safeguard over a century of Malaysia’s subsurface exploration data, ensuring its continued value for future generations.

Datuk Ir. Bacho said the centre represents Petronas’ long-term vision to advance sustainable energy development through technology and collaboration.

“PGTC is more than a facility; it is a symbol of our commitment to innovation, sustainability and collaboration. It will transform Malaysia’s geoscience landscape by integrating advanced data management, immersive visualisation, and collaborative research,” he said.

He added that the initiative aligns with Petronas’ broader goal of positioning Malaysia as a regional energy hub while fostering a data-driven culture across the energy sector.

Petronas reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a sustainable and resilient energy supply for the nation, with MPM continuing to play a pivotal role in managing Malaysia’s petroleum resources and overseeing upstream petroleum activities.
