New Communications Ministry sec-gen clocks in for first day at work

Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah receives warm welcome from Minister Fahmi Fadzil as he takes on leadership role to steer the ministry forward

KUALA LUMPUR – Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his confidence that the newly appointed secretary-general of the Communications Ministry, Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, will excel in his role and responsibilities in overseeing the ministry’s administration.

Fahmi shared his thoughts in a Facebook post following Abdul Halim’s courtesy visit to Parliament today.

“May you carry out your mandate and responsibilities with excellence. Best wishes in your duties, and welcome to the Communications Ministry,” he said.

Abdul Halim, 54, assumes his new role as secretary-general of the Communications Ministry, effective today. Prior to this, he served as the director-general of the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA).

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a Master of Business Administration from Universiti Putra Malaysia.

With nearly 30 years of service in the public sector, Abdul Halim began his career as an assistant director at the Implementation Coordination Unit, Prime Minister’s Department (JPM). Before his tenure at NADMA, he served as senior deputy secretary-general (Finance & Development) at JPM in 2023. – November 24, 2025
