Rain warnings lifted as flood situation improves across Malaysia

There has also been a notable decrease in the number of evacuees nationwide, except for Selangor

KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has officially lifted continuous rain warnings for several states today, following improved weather conditions.

Datuk Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip, MetMalaysia’s Director-General, stated that weather models indicate the situation is stabilising, with no further heavy rain expected in the affected areas of Terengganu, Pahang, Kelantan, Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur, and Putrajaya.

“The continuous rain warnings (danger, severe, and alert levels) issued at 4.30 pm yesterday for the affected areas are hereby lifted,” he said in a statement.

Earlier, the department had issued a danger-level rain warning for several districts in Terengganu, including Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman. Severe-level warnings were also in effect for parts of Pahang and Terengganu, while alert-level warnings had been placed over several districts in Kelantan, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Perak, and Negeri Sembilan.

Flooding Situation Improves, With Decline in Evacuations

The flood situation across most states had improved by midday, with the number of evacuees at temporary relief centres (PPS) declining, except for Selangor, where the number of evacuees rose.

Terengganu remained the worst-hit state, with 9,584 evacuees from 2,864 families as of noon, down from 10,399 in the morning. Kemaman recorded the highest number of evacuees, with 2,271 people in 16 PPS, followed by Marang (1,804), Kuala Terengganu (1,662), and others. Meanwhile, 16 roads in the state remain closed due to flooding, according to the Public Works Department (JKR).

Perak saw a drop in the number of evacuees, down to 6,173 individuals from 1,903 families across 46 PPS, compared to 6,507 earlier in the day. Manjung recorded the highest number of evacuees at 2,307.

Perlis reported a decrease in evacuees to 6,159 from 6,869, with major roads in the Arau and Kangar districts now fully passable.

In Selangor, the number of evacuees continued to rise, reaching 4,366 from 1,208 families, an increase from 4,141 this morning. A total of 32 PPS were operating in the state.

Kedah also saw a slight reduction in evacuees, with 3,302 people from 1,023 families, down from 3,452 this morning. The official PublicInfoBanjir website reported that some rivers in the state had exceeded danger levels.

In Pahang, evacuees decreased slightly to 2,268, with the Jerantut district now affected. Several rivers in the state, including Sungai Pahang, have surpassed danger levels.

In Kelantan, the number of evacuees fell to 2,152 from 3,000 this morning. The situation remains critical, with rivers such as Sungai Golok still at dangerous levels.

Meanwhile, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka also recorded declines in evacuees, with both states showing signs of recovery. – November 29, 2025
