KL roads flooded after intense evening rainstorm

Heavy evening rains wreaked havoc on Kuala Lumpur’s streets today, leaving major roads submerged and causing severe traffic disruptions across the city

KUALA LUMPUR – Continuous heavy rain since 4pm today triggered waterlogging and flash floods across several parts of the capital, disrupting traffic and leaving many roads partially submerged.

The downpour caused surface runoff and pooling on major routes, slowing traffic and making it challenging for motorists to navigate affected stretches.

According to the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL)’s Kuala Lumpur Command & Control Centre (KLCCC), waterlogging was reported along Jalan Loke Yew, Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, and Jalan Yew.

Separately, the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department said it received a report of flash floods along Jalan Raja Chulan.

Social media users also shared images and videos of flooded spots in Desa Pandan, Taman Desa, Cheras, and Jalan Changkat Thambi Dollah, highlighting the wider impact of the evening downpour. – December 12, 2025
