KUALA LUMPUR — Police bail for rapper Wee Meng Chee or Namewee has been extended again, this time for a month starting last Thursday until January 11.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said bail was extended as police are still waiting for the toxicology and autopsy reports on the death of Taiwanese female influencer, Hsieh Yun Hsin, 33, which is expected to take about three months.

“We are still waiting for the toxicology report and the decision of the Chemistry Department, hence (Namewee’s) bail has been extended while the investigation continues,” Fadil said at a press conference after the launch of the Amanita Lift Park 2025 at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters, Seri Alam People’s Housing Project (PPR) Phase 2, here today.

Namewee was remanded from November 5 to 13 to assist police investigations into Hsieh’s death. He was released on police bail until last Wednesday to await the victim’s autopsy report.

Hsieh was found dead in a bathtub in a hotel bathroom in Jalan Conlay, here on Oct 22. It is understood that she had met Namewee at the hotel to discuss a video project. He was said to have discovered her unresponsive in the bathroom.

The case, which was initially classified as sudden death, is now being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On the day Hsieh was found, authorities arrested Namewee at the hotel after discovering nine blue pills suspected to be ecstasy in the room. He later tested positive for amphetamine, methamphetamine, ketamine and THC.

He was subsequently charged with drug possession and consumption at the Jalan Duta Court on October 24 and pleaded not guilty. He was allowed bail of RM4,000 for each charge. – December 13, 2025
