Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin laid to rest at Bukit Kiara

The respected political and corporate figure was honoured by family and colleagues at his funeral in Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery

KUALA LUMPUR – Renowned political and corporate figure Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas was laid to rest earlier today at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery, following his death last night after a prolonged battle with cancer.

The ceremony was attended by close family members, friends, and colleagues, all of whom came together to bid farewell to the beloved figure.

Early this morning, his remains were brought to the At-Taqwa Mosque in Taman Tun Dr Ismail (TTDI) for final prayers and funeral rites.

Afterward, he was laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery, in the presence of family and friends, all paying their respects to a man who made a significant impact in both the political and corporate spheres.

The news of his passing was initially shared by his niece, Puteri Kamaliah Megat Abu Bakar, on social media yesterday.

It was revealed that he had passed away at a private medical centre in Petaling Jaya, with his loved ones by his side during his final moments.

Beyond his political career, Megat Najmuddin was a respected figure in the corporate sector, holding key positions such as Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Farm Fresh Berhad, Chairman of Asian Pac Holdings Berhad, and Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad.

Megat Najmuddin’s legacy is defined by his contributions to both politics and business.

He served as the State Assemblyman for Kelana Jaya, Selangor, for two terms from 1986, earning respect for his dedication to public service. He also held key roles within Umno, including on its Disciplinary Board, before becoming Chairman of the Bersatu Disciplinary Board.

In the corporate world, he was a well-respected leader, holding prominent positions such as Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Farm Fresh Berhad, Chairman of Asian Pac Holdings Berhad, and Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad. – December 14, 2025
