KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced an allocation of RM50 million for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Tamil (SJKT).
He said that although Tamil schools are a minority within the national education system, many are in poor condition, and the allocation is aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure and facility issues.
Meanwhile, the allocation for Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) has been increased from RM50 million to RM80 million.
“Our children also attend SJKC, and today there are Bumiputera and Indian students in these schools as well. Previously, we provided RM50 million, and this year we have increased it to RM80 million for SJKC.
“Although the number of SJKTs is smaller, some of these Tamil schools are also in dilapidated condition, which is why we have allocated RM50 million,” he said. – January 5, 2026
