KUALA LUMPUR – A Bersatu division chief allegedly received cash and luxury assets worth RM1.1 million from a company linked to the Jana Wibawa programme.
The allegation was made by Hulu Langat Bersatu information chief Mohamad Shafiq Abdul Halim, who claimed that the information was contained in a ledger document revealing records of financial transactions.
He said the document recorded, among others, cash payments totalling RM774,500, two mobile phones worth RM15,000, two laptop computers valued at RM10,000, a locally branded vehicle and a luxury car, including insurance and road tax.
“On January 4, I came across a ledger shown from a company involved in the Jana Wibawa programme, in which a division chief was allegedly found to have received cash and luxury assets from this company amounting to RM1.1 million.
“I will personally lodge police reports as well as reports with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and submit the document to allow further investigations to be carried out into the possibility of criminal breach of trust or corruption,” he said at a press conference at a restaurant here today.
He said the document is believed to originate from a company involved in the Jana Wibawa programme, which is currently the subject of court proceedings.
“From this ledger, if we look at it, there are several names mentioned that are indeed linked to the case currently being tried,” he said.
He said the disclosure was made to safeguard the party’s integrity and to ensure Bersatu’s political struggle remains free from any elements of corruption.
The Jana Wibawa project was implemented during the Covid-19 pandemic.– 6 January 2026
