KUALA LUMPUR — The 14-year-old boy charged with murdering a 16-year-old female student at a Bandar Utama secondary school last October has been declared fit to stand trial.
His lawyer, Kitson Foong, said the finding followed a psychiatric evaluation conducted at Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta.
“The psychiatric report has been completed and both the court and the psychiatrist are satisfied that the accused is capable of defending himself,” Foong told reporters after proceedings before Magistrate Amira Sariaty Zainal at the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court today.
The case has been fixed for mention on February 6.
Foong said the accused is currently being held at the Puncak Alam Correctional Centre, where the court has ordered that prescribed medication be administered daily at specific times, with treatment to continue without interruption.
The court also directed that the teenager continue attending monthly counselling and therapy sessions.
The boy is accused of killing his 16-year-old schoolmate at a secondary school in Bandar Utama between 9.20am and 9.35am on October 14.
He was charged on October 22 under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment of between 30 and 40 years, and up to 12 strokes of the cane if the death penalty is not imposed.
No plea was recorded as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court. Deputy public prosecutor Syed Ahmed Khabir Abdul Rahman appeared for the prosecution.— January 16, 2026
