KUALA LUMPUR – The Social Security Organisation (Perkeso) and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) have dismantled a syndicate responsible for falsifying claims for invalidity pensions, following the arrest of six individuals involved in the conspiracy.

Perkeso Group Chief Executive Officer, Datuk Seri Dr. Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed, revealed that the operation, named ‘Ops Stroke’, was the result of a collaborative effort between the two agencies, which began on September 3 last year.

“Through intelligence gathering and investigation, we managed to arrest six individuals, including insured persons (OB) and the mastermind, who were implicated in falsifying documents to make fraudulent claims for Invalidity Pension benefits under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Act 4),” he said in a statement today.

Dr. Mohammed Azman added that the initial investigation showed that the amount paid out due to these fraudulent claims had reached approximately RM220,000. However, swift action by Perkeso managed to prevent even greater losses.

“If the document falsification syndicate had gone unchecked, the estimated potential loss could have reached RM3.78 million,” he stated.

He emphasised that Perkeso would not tolerate any party that sought to undermine the integrity of the country’s social security system for personal gain.

“Applications for Perkeso claims are free, and contributors should only deal directly with Perkeso to avoid manipulation by agents or syndicates. Perkeso continuously monitors to ensure no elements of manipulation or fraud are present, and we urge contributors to be honest and trustworthy when submitting claims,” Dr. Mohammed Azman stressed.

He warned that any attempt to submit fraudulent documents would not only result in claim rejection but could also lead to legal action against the individuals involved.

Commenting on the wider implications of such irresponsible activities, Dr. Mohammed Azman stated that the actions of the syndicate not only caused direct financial losses but also posed a serious threat to the long-term sustainability of the nation’s social security funds.

“The leakage of funds due to false claims risks affecting Perkeso’s ability to provide assistance to genuine contributors who truly need protection,” he said.

He also highlighted that the syndicate’s actions could foster a culture of fraud within society.

“If left unchecked, more contributors may fall prey to agents promising quick approvals, ultimately ensnaring them in criminal activities,” he warned. – January 22, 2026
