KUALA LUMPUR – Reigning world mixed doubles champions Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei won the Indonesia Masters title on Sunday, marking their fifth BWF World Tour victory and a historic first for Malaysia in the tournament.
The world No. 4 Malaysians came from a game down to defeat Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Alexandra Boje 15-21, 21-17, 21-11 in the final at Istora Senayan in Jakarta.
The victory also made them the first Malaysian mixed doubles pair to claim the Indonesia Masters crown since the tournament began in 2010.
The win also settled the score after Tang Jie and Ee Wei were beaten by the same Danish pair in the semi-finals of last year’s Macau Open, with the head-to-head record now level at 2-2.
Earlier, Malaysia added another title when Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah were declared women’s doubles champions following a walkover by Japan’s Arisa Igarashi and Miyu Takahashi.
Attention now turns to the men’s doubles final, where Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin Rumsani will face Indonesia’s Raymond Indra and Nikolas Joaquin. A win there would give Malaysia three titles at a Super 500 tournament or above for the first time since the World Tour era began in 2018. – January 25, 2026
