KUALA LUMPUR — The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has strengthened its commitment to employee welfare with the launch of KinderHub@MCMC, a dedicated facility aimed at easing the burden on working parents and reinforcing family support within the organisation.

Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said the initiative goes beyond bricks and mortar, describing it as a reflection of MCMC’s holistic approach in recognising that family stability underpins a productive, balanced and resilient workforce.

“This is not merely the opening of a facility. It reflects MCMC’s commitment to ensuring that staff welfare remains a priority, with family support as the main pillar of the organisation’s strength,” he told reporters at the launch at MCMC Tower 2 today.

Located in Cyberjaya, KinderHub@MCMC operates from 7.00am to 7.00pm, Monday to Friday, and can accommodate up to 153 children at any one time.

The centre provides a safe and conducive environment for early childhood care and education exclusively for the children of MCMC employees.

Fahmi said the facility allows parents to focus on their responsibilities, particularly in ensuring digital infrastructure is rolled out nationwide in a timely manner and that the internet remains safer for children and families.

Since commencing operations on January 15, 76 children aged between three months and six years have registered.

“I was informed that even expectant mothers have begun registering. This shows such facilities are indeed needed,” he said.

Fahmi also expressed hope that the initiative would serve as a benchmark for other statutory bodies, encouraging them to replicate similar efforts where feasible.

He acknowledged that some MCMC staff had faced heavier workloads since he assumed office and conveyed his appreciation, adding that he had approved a bonus for staff, pending the Finance Ministry’s decision.

Meanwhile, MCMC in a statement said that the initiative aligns with its aspiration to position itself as an employer of choice by providing quality childcare that safeguards the safety and welfare of employees’ children, in line with the Malaysia MADANI framework.

Also present at today’s launch were the secretary-general of the Comms Ministry, Datuk Abdul Halim Hamzah, and MCMC chairman Tan Sri Salim Fateh Din. – March 3, 2026
