KUALA LUMPUR – The PAS Selangor Youth Wing has proposed Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri as the new chairman of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Selangor, highlighting his integrity, extensive experience, and respected standing in both academic and political circles.

Its chief, Mohamed Sukri Omar, stressed that the recommendation was the result of careful evaluation rather than political sentiment, pointing to Halim’s distinguished career as a scholar, community leader, and seasoned politician.

“Halim Tamuri is recognised as an academic authority with a strong educational background and a life guided by knowledge, ethics, and Islamic values.

“As a professor of Islamic education, he brings not only intellectual depth but also a leadership style characterised by humility, principle, and integrity,” Sukri said in a statement on Facebook today.

Halim currently serves as PAS Selangor Commissioner and the State Assemblyman (ADUN) for Paya Jaras. According to Sukri, his roles within PAS Selangor and as an elected representative have provided him with a deep understanding of both political realities and the needs of the local community.

“Selangor requires a leader who can unite various factions within PN with a mature and prudent approach.

“The PAS Selangor Youth Wing believes the state’s future leadership should be driven by someone with a clean image, integrity, and broad respect across society,” he added.

The proposal follows the resignation of Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali as PN Selangor chairman and secretary-general on December 30 last year, after Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin stepped down as PN national chairman. – March 9, 2026
