KUALA LUMPUR – The Ministry of National Unity has issued a stern warning against actions that threaten racial and religious harmony following several recent incidents that have raised concerns over public safety.
In a press statement today, the ministry cited three cases: the arson of three vehicles belonging to activist Cikgu Chandra, a viral video showing a man desecrating the Trisul, a sacred Hindu symbol, and attacks against preacher Zamri Vinoth.
In response to these incidents, the ministry emphasised that any form of violence, religious provocation, hate speech, or extremist actions touching on racial and religious sensitivities is completely unacceptable in a multicultural nation like Malaysia.
“National harmony cannot and will never be compromised by the actions of a few irresponsible parties,” the ministry emphasised.
Minister of National Unity Aaron Ago Dagang has requested that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) conduct thorough investigations and take immediate, firm action against all parties involved in accordance with existing laws.
The minister further urged all Malaysians to avoid emotional reactions or spreading speculation on social media, stressing that differing opinions should be addressed through proper channels.
The Ministry of National Unity remains committed to working closely with security agencies, community leaders, and interfaith organisations to ensure that the nation’s harmony, security, and stability continue to be preserved. – March 10, 2026
