KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will extend the free GOKL 11 bus service to include a dedicated stop within the grounds of Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital (HRC), starting April 1, 2026.
The announcement, made in the presence of Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, is intended to enhance public transport accessibility for patients and their families, particularly as the capital’s elderly population is expected to reach 11.7% by 2030.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh said the expanded route will cover the MRT Maluri – Bandar Tun Razak corridor.
“This initiative is part of the efforts of the Kuala Lumpur City Council to provide public facilities so that health facilities are not only available, but can be fully accessed by all,” she said.
HRC President Dr Datin Haliza noted that the hospital currently operates at around 60% occupancy. She added that the new transport link is expected to attract more patients and improve utilisation of the facility.
In conjunction with the route expansion, HRC will launch the Cheras Zone Geriatric Wellbeing and Elderly Community Program, offering awareness campaigns, outdoor therapy sessions, and active community spaces.
Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital remains Kuala Lumpur’s only dedicated facility providing comprehensive recovery services for stroke, chronic illnesses, and injuries. – March 18, 2026
