KUALA LUMPUR – Police are tracking several individuals suspected of setting off fireworks from the sunroof of a moving car in a dangerous stunt along Persiaran Ficus, Section U15, in Shah Alam.

Shah Alam district police chief ACP Ramsay Embol said a report was lodged at 12.48pm yesterday after a video of the incident went viral online.

He confirmed the incident took place in the Elmina Rainforest area.

“Investigations found that the 50-second clip shows the incident occurring at night.

“One male suspect was seen firing several rounds of fireworks into the air while standing through the sunroof of a car, believed to be driven by another individual,” he said in a statement, as reported by Bernama.

Ramsay said the case is being investigated under Section 286 of the Penal Code for negligent conduct involving explosive substances, as well as Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.

He urged those with information to contact investigating officer Inspector Ahmad Mokhsin Abdul Rahman at 011-17554394 or reach out to the nearest police station. – March 29, 2026
