Sunway names former Bursa Malaysia head Abdul Wahid Omar to board

Shares gain 1.53% following announcement of non-executive director role

KUALA LUMPUR – Sunway Bhd has appointed Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar as its independent non-executive director, effective immediately.

Sunway noted that Abdul Wahid, 62, currently serves as the independent non-executive chairman of Cypark Resources Bhd and IOI Corporation Bhd.

“He completed his five-year tenure as chairman of Bursa Malaysia Bhd on April 30, 2025,” the company said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Following the announcement, Sunway’s share price gained eight sen, or 1.53 per cent, closing at RM5.30 on Bursa Malaysia. – April 15, 2026
