Wong Chen pushes back on call to lodge report over Ayer Hitam land deal

Subang MP says disclosure must come first as over 7,000 residents seek answers on forest reserve-linked transactions

KUALA LUMPUR — Subang MP Wong Chen has responded to Kinrara assemblyman Ng Sze Han’s call for him to lodge a report over the controversial land sale near the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve, saying full disclosure must first be made by the Selangor government.

Wong said while he appreciated Ng’s position on transparency and his advice, it would be premature to take the matter to enforcement authorities at this stage.

“Until the Government of Selangor officially discloses fully the facts and figures regarding the land transactions, and until everyone can analyse the disclosed facts, it will be wrong and premature for me or anyone in Kinrara to lodge a report to any authorities,” he said in a statement shared on his Facebook page.

He added that he would not hesitate to act if wrongdoing is established.

“If and when the facts are finally disclosed by the Selangor government, and if the facts show wrongdoing or poor accountability, I will personally file a report to the authorities,” he said.

Wong also highlighted that the land in question falls under the Selangor government’s purview, and within Ng’s responsibilities as Kinrara assemblyman.

He noted that more than 7,000 residents have signed a petition since December 2025, urging his office to seek answers on the land transactions.

“Even though land matters are not under my scope of work as an MP, I decided to pursue the matter on the residents’ behalf,” he said, adding that his office has sent three official letters to the Selangor government requesting full disclosure.

However, he said there has been no response to date.

“Till date, the Government of Selangor, of which YB Ng Sze Han is an Exco member, has not replied to my official letters,” he said, adding that this does not reflect “the highest standards of transparency”.

Wong reiterated that his focus remains on securing facts and accountability.

“I am asking for facts and figures. I am fighting for transparency and accountability, for my constituents,” he said.

Ng had earlier said he supported transparency and suggested that Wong lodge a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) or relevant authorities if there were concerns, adding that “as a seasoned politician, Wong knows what to do.”

The exchange follows Wong’s recent press conference, where he said Rawang assemblyman Chua Wei Kiat is also seeking answers from the Selangor government over a 169-acre development near the Ayer Hitam Forest Reserve, amid rising public concern. — April 19, 2026
