KUALA LUMPUR – Pakatan Harapan (PH) is set to convene its highly anticipated 2026 Convention in Johor Bahru this month, signaling a strategic consolidation of power as the coalition gears up for upcoming electoral challenges.

Themed “Tekad Madani, Harapan Rakyat” (Madani Determination, People’s Hope), the event will be held at the Persada Johor International Convention Centre on May 17.

The day-long convention, running from 8 am to 6 pm, is designed as a high-level tactical platform to bridge leadership gaps, solidify organizational cohesion, and refine the coalition’s roadmap amidst a shifting national landscape.

A joint statement from the PH leadership emphasized that the gathering is pivotal for the MADANI Government’s long-term survival and efficacy.

“As the leader of the MADANI Government, PH continues to focus on strengthening the country’s economy, political stability and people’s confidence ahead of the state elections and the 16th general election (GE16),” the statement read.

Strategic Roadmap and Leadership AlignmentPrime Minister and PH Chairman, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, is slated to anchor the event with a keynote address.

He is expected to deliver a “special message” to delegates, likely detailing the coalition’s defensive and offensive strategies for GE16.

The convention will also see the attendance of the coalition’s top brass, aiming to project a front of ironclad unity and operational readiness in the face of escalating political headwinds.

This marks the first time the coalition has held a national convention since 2022.

Insiders suggest that the reorganisation of the programme is a deliberate move to transition from a “campaign-mode” entity into a more robust governing force.

The leadership noted that the convention reflects a renewed commitment to empowering the reform agenda, ensuring that the core aspirations of the Madani Government are translated into tangible results for the Malaysian public. – May 8, 2026
