KUALA LUMPUR – Motorists are being urged to steer clear of several major arteries in the capital tomorrow morning as the “XTEP 10KM Time Trial 2026” takes over the streets of Kuala Lumpur.

The Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) has issued a travel advisory to ensure the public can navigate around the event, which is expected to draw significant crowds to the city center.

ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa, Head of KL JSPT, confirmed that the race and its associated traffic measures will be in effect from 5:00 am to 9:00 am, centered around the Padang Merbok area. He emphasized the need for early planning to avoid being caught in the anticipated morning congestion.

“In this regard, road users are advised to plan their journeys. Follow the instructions of traffic personnel and use alternative routes to avoid congestion in the affected areas throughout the event,” ACP Mohd Zamzuri said in an official statement today.

The 10km route will transform some of the city’s busiest roads into a dedicated racing circuit for the morning. The trial is set to begin at Padang Merbok before weaving through Jalan Berjasa, Jalan Sultan Salahuddin, Bulatan Dato Onn, Jalan Raja Laut, and Jalan Putra. Runners will then continue through Jalan Tun Ismail and Jalan Dato Onn before hitting the Lebuhraya Sultan Iskandar (Mahameru) and concluding the loop via Jalan Parlimen.

Authorities are requesting full cooperation from the public to ensure the safety of both runners and motorists. For those requiring real-time updates or further clarification on the affected stretches, the public may contact the Tun H.S. Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or visit any nearby police station for assistance.

Drivers are encouraged to utilize navigation apps like Waze or Google Maps to identify alternative routes during the four-hour window. – May 8, 2026
