KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has rejected allegations that it prevents individuals from lodging complaints, stressing that access control measures at its premises are standard security procedures enforced consistently for all visitors.
In a statement today, the MACC said claims suggesting the commission obstructs any party from making reports were untrue and aimed at creating a negative perception of its enforcement procedures and security protocols.
“In this regard, access control at MACC premises is a standard practice implemented consistently for all visitors and is neither discriminatory nor intended to prevent any party from lodging a report,” the commission said.
The MACC stressed that it remains open to receiving complaints and information related to corruption from any individual, regardless of status or background.
However, it said all complaints and information submitted are subject to existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and security protocols to ensure the safety of its premises, smooth management of official matters, and protection of information.
The commission also clarified that MACC premises fall under the Prohibited Areas and Places Act 1959 [Act 298], which only allows entry to authorised individuals with valid passes or permits, subject to directions and inspections by authorised officers.
Addressing allegations linked to gender-related issues during the complaint recording process, the MACC said no such issues existed within its procedures.
“The MACC also stresses that there are no gender-related issues as alleged in the complaint recording or statement-taking process,” it said.
The commission added that officers carrying out their duties are bound by professionalism, ethics, and investigative procedures prescribed under the law as well as internal regulations.
The MACC further said it strongly rejected attempts to manipulate its security SOPs and enforcement procedures to construct a narrative suggesting the commission seeks to restrict or obstruct the complaint process.
It reiterated its commitment to carrying out its responsibilities professionally, independently, and with integrity in accordance with the law and principles of justice. – May 13, 2026
