KUALA LUMPUR – Issues surrounding the management and finances of Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City FC), including outstanding salary payments involving players, are expected to be resolved in the near future.

The club’s patron, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said several concerns raised previously have been handled more effectively following improvements made to the club’s management structure since his appointment.

Fahmi, who is also the Communications Minister, stressed that stronger financial management and administrative governance are crucial to ensuring similar problems do not recur next season.

“Several aspects have already been improved. We believe funding issues will, God willing, no longer become a major problem.

“We will continue addressing several other matters to ensure there are no obstacles concerning the club licensing process,” he told reporters after a Hari Raya Korban programme in Lumbar Pantai, where he is MP.

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) announced fines of RM45,000 each against KL City FC and another club under Article 8(f) of the MFL Club Licensing Regulations (CLR).

The sanctions were decided following a meeting of the MFL Club Licensing First Instance Body (FIB), which convened yesterday. – May 27, 2026
