Aminuddin brushes off speculation as attention mounts over possible Negeri Sembilan DUN dissolution

Routine palace visit and political meetings spark heightened scrutiny following Johor’s state assembly dissolution announcement

KUALA LUMPUR – “Just an ordinary Wednesday,” was the response from Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun when pressed by reporters about his visit to Istana Hinggap today.

He was observed entering the palace compound at about 9.05am before departing at roughly 10.47am, as reported by Sinar Harian.

The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Negeri Sembilan chairman was accompanied by the state police chief during the visit.

It is a long‑standing weekly routine for Aminuddin to have an audience with the Yang di‑Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, every Wednesday prior to chairing the State Executive Council meeting at Wisma Negeri.

Nonetheless, this particular visit drew increased media scrutiny amid speculation over a possible imminent dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

A press briefing is anticipated at 1.30pm today following the Exco meeting.

On Tuesday, PH state assembly members together with several party leaders were seen arriving at the Menteri Besar’s official residence as early as 9.30am. Their presence was believed to be linked to a purported special meeting concerning the potential dissolution of the DUN.

However, DAP Negeri Sembilan secretary Cha Kee Chin clarified that the gathering chaired by Aminuddin was not a special meeting as suggested.

“It was not a special meeting. It was seen as ‘urgent’ because short notice was given following the dissolution of the Johor state assembly yesterday.

“The meeting was held in a harmonious atmosphere in the spirit of the Negeri Sembilan PH family. We discussed the readiness of the PH election machinery for the upcoming state election. That’s all,” said Cha, who is also Rasah MP, on Facebook this afternoon.

Earlier this week, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi announced the dissolution of the state legislative assembly following consent granted by Tunku Mahkota Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Regent of Johor.

“This dissolution paves the way for the democratic process of elections for Johor. It will allow the people of Johor to elect a new state government and obtain a fresh mandate to continue the state’s development agenda.

“I urge all political parties, leaders and supporters to observe decorum and order as we go through this democratic process,” Onn Hafiz said in a press conference broadcast live online. – June 3, 2026
