Petaling Jaya MP questions sudden loss of access to MyKhas

Lee Chean Chung demands explanation over MyKhas access being blocked, cites possible double standards in allocation of public funds

KUALA LUMPUR – Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung has raised concerns after his office lost access to the MyKhas system on May 29, 2026, effectively halting all constituency allocation‑related work, including Projek Mesra Rakyat (PMR).

He said the disruption has made it impossible for his office to continue normal constituency development processes and claimed there has been no official explanation given for the action.

“To ensure the public is not left waiting without clarity, I have decided to make this matter public today,” he said in a media statement shared on his Facebook page.

Lee noted he is now the second MP from the government bloc, after Subang MP Wong Chen, to face a similar situation involving access restrictions to constituency funds.

“However, to the best of my knowledge, this may be the first time in Malaysia’s history where two government MPs consecutively have been denied access to constituency allocation channels,” said the PKR communications director.

Despite the restriction, Lee stressed that he remains committed to his role as a government MP.

“I remain a Member of Parliament who supports the Unity Government. I have never declared that I am leaving the government bloc, nor have I voted against the government in Parliament,” he added.

Lee also questioned whether the issue was linked to his attendance at a political event involving leaders Rafizi Ramli and Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad on May 17, stating that no formal disciplinary process had been communicated to him.

“If my actions are considered a breach of party discipline, disloyalty, or detrimental to the party, then due process should be followed,” he said, adding that he has yet to receive any official communication despite earlier indications from party leadership.

He further pointed to Pakatan Harapan’s election manifesto, which promises fair distribution of constituency funds.

He quoted the manifesto as stating: “Pakatan Harapan will provide constituency development funding (CDF) fairly to all Members of Parliament regardless of political party as they represent the interests of their respective constituents.”

Lee argued that the current situation appears inconsistent with that commitment, as the promise is not being fulfilled.

He also said there is a perception that allocations may be given to opposition MPs who support the government, while at the same time being withheld from government MPs who are seen as being too vocal in their criticism.

“If today a government MP can lose access to constituency allocation channels due to unexplained political factors, then the public is right to ask: is there a double standard in the distribution of constituency funds?” he added.

Lee stressed that constituency funds are not for personal use but are essential for public service delivery, including support for NGOs, schools and local communities.

He also shared his past experience as a state assemblyman in Pahang, where he served without state allocations but continued his work through community fundraising.

He concluded by urging the authorities to clarify the situation.

“If this is a political decision, state the reason publicly. If this is a disciplinary action, follow the proper process. If this is merely a technical issue, then resolve it immediately,” he said.

Earlier, Wong questioned the continued restriction of access to the MyKhas Portal, which is managed by the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) under the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM), saying the blockage is now affecting constituency work and public welfare initiatives.

He said access to the system has remained unavailable for more than a week, despite several official communications and hand‑delivered letters sent to ICU JPM in Selangor as well as its headquarters in Putrajaya. – June 3, 2026
