KUALA LUMPUR – A group of 13 Members of Parliament aligned with the Reset faction has thrown its support behind PAS’ decision to end political cooperation with Bersatu, arguing that the party’s leadership had repeatedly ignored internal concerns and damaged relations within Perikatan Nasional (PN).
In a joint statement shared on PN’s Facebook page today, the MPs said Pas’ move reflected longstanding frustrations with Bersatu under the leadership of its president, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, and secretary-general, Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
“PAS’s decision to sever ties with Bersatu does not come as a surprise given the arrogance and haughtiness displayed by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, secretary-general Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, and the party’s top leadership,” the statement said.
The statement was signed by Beluran MP Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee, Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Seri Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, Tanah Merah MP Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz, Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid, Kangar MP Zakri Hassan, Lumut MP Komander (B) Nordin Ahmad Ismail, Rompin MP Datuk Abdul Khalib Abdullah, Sungai Besar MP Datuk Muslimin Yahaya, Mersing MP Muhammad Islahuddin Abas, Sabak Bernam MP Kalam Salan, Ketereh MP Datuk Khlir Mohd Nor, Bandar Baharu MP Roslan Hashim and Kubang Pasu MP Datuk Wira Dr Ku Abd Rahman Ku Ismail.
The lawmakers said they had repeatedly raised concerns with Muhyiddin over Bersatu’s direction and the need to preserve unity within the opposition coalition, but claimed their views were consistently dismissed.
“As Members of Parliament, we have on numerous occasions raised concerns internally with Tan Sri Muhyiddin regarding the party’s direction and the importance of maintaining good relations within PN. Unfortunately, every constructive criticism we voiced was ignored,” the statement said.
They also alleged that the party’s disciplinary process had been used to suppress differing views.
“Instead, the Disciplinary Board was allegedly misused to silence us and prevent us from continuing to speak the truth,” they added.
The group further argued that Bersatu’s influence within PN had diminished significantly, citing the party’s reduced representation in Parliament.
“Bersatu no longer holds value within PN. In terms of parliamentary representation, Bersatu now has only six Members of Parliament,” the statement said.
The MPs warned that retaining Bersatu in the coalition would weaken PN’s prospects.
“If Bersatu remains in PN, its weaknesses and Tan Sri Muhyiddin’s arrogance will cripple the coalition,” they said.
They called on Bersatu to leave PN voluntarily or face removal from the coalition, while also urging a review of political appointments and state executive council positions currently held by Bersatu representatives in PN-administered states.
“Therefore, we urge that Bersatu immediately leave, or be removed from, the Perikatan Nasional coalition. We also call for all political appointments and state executive council (EXCO) positions held by Bersatu representatives in the relevant states to be reviewed and reshuffled,” the statement added.
The statement follows PAS’ announcement yesterday that its central leadership had unanimously agreed to end political cooperation with Bersatu, a decision that marks a significant development within the PN coalition. – June 10, 2026
