KUALA LUMPUR — Activity grants allocated to 189 Rukun Negara Secretariats (SRN) and 6,849 Rukun Negara Clubs (KRN) are expected to enhance understanding and appreciation of the Rukun Negara principles, particularly among the younger generation.
National Unity Minister Aaron Ago Dagang said the initiative, which provides RM10,000 to each SRN and RM5,000 to each KRN, would strengthen their role as key platforms in promoting unity, patriotism and civic responsibility, Bernama reported.
He also welcomed a RM5 million matching grant under Budget 2027 to restore 10 statesman memorials managed by the National Archives of Malaysia, saying it would help safeguard the nation’s historical legacy.
“This step not only preserves the nation’s heritage but also serves as an important medium to educate the public on the struggles of national figures in building a peaceful, united, and sovereign Malaysia,” he said.
“This effort clearly reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to strengthening the national unity agenda through the appreciation of the Rukun Negara and the empowerment of national history as the foundation of nation-building,” he added.
The announcement on the activity grants was made by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during the National-Level Unity Week 2026 celebrations yesterday.
Aaron said the Rukun Negara should not remain a symbolic document but must be actively practised in daily life.
“At the same time, the nation’s history must continue to be elevated and appreciated so that the present and future generations understand the roots of the country’s formation and the values that unite us as a Malaysian nation,” he said. — June 14, 2026
