PETALING JAYA — Bersatu will not leave Perikatan Nasional (PN) and will use the coalition’s logo in the upcoming Johor and Negeri Sembilan state polls, party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said.
Muhyiddin stressed that the party cannot be removed from PN unilaterally based on the decision of any single party.
“We will continue to remain as a member of PN, and no party can take action to remove Bersatu from PN unilaterally,” Bernama reported Muhyiddin saying.
“If we follow the constitution, there are certain matters and clauses that must be adhered to. They must comply with the provisions and reach a consensus,” he said at a press conference after chairing the Supreme Leadership Council meeting at Bersatu headquarters last night.
Also present were Bersatu vice-presidents Datuk Dr Radzi Jidin and Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, as well as secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.
PAS recently announced its official decision to end all forms of political cooperation with Bersatu. PAS has since openly shown support for the new party, Parti Wawasan Negara, formed by former Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin who was sacked for opposing Muhyiddin.
Muhyiddin last night said Bersatu is ready to face PAS in the state elections if efforts to restore relations between the two largest parties in PN fail.
He added that Bersatu will announce its list of candidates for the Johor state election soon, noting that the party had not received any date from PN for a meeting with all component parties to discuss seat allocations for the state polls.
Johor’s election is slated for July 11, while Negeri Sembilan will go to the polls on August 1. – June 17, 2026
