KUALA LUMPUR – The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has parted ways with national team head coach Peter Cklamovski, chief executive officer Rob Friend and several key members of the Harimau Malaya setup in a major overhaul of the country’s national football project.
The governing body confirmed today that the contracts of Cklamovski, senior team technical staff Matthew Smith and Seiya Imazaki were terminated by mutual agreement with effect from June 16, while Friend’s contract ended on June 1.
FAM also announced that national under-23 head coach Nafuzi Zain and goalkeeping coach Mohd Yazid Mohd Yassin have left their positions following the mutual termination of their contracts, effective June 15.

In a statement, FAM said it respected the decisions reached and expressed its appreciation for the commitment, professionalism and contributions of all those involved during their tenure with the national teams.
The association said the departures were made through mutual agreement between the respective individuals and FAM.
“FAM would like to place its highest appreciation and gratitude for the services, commitment and contributions rendered throughout their period of service with the national team,” the statement read.
FAM added that it is taking the necessary measures to ensure continuity and stability within the national team structure, including the process of filling the vacant positions.
Further announcements regarding the future direction of the national teams and new appointments will be made in due course.
The departures mark one of the biggest changes to the Harimau Malaya management and coaching structure in recent years, with FAM now expected to unveil a new leadership team ahead of the next phase of the national team’s development. – June 18, 2026
